This is what I'm saying! Why do ALL these Best Picture noms centre around the premise of extreme amounts of money: Anora, Emilia Perez, The Brutalist . . .
Incredible how lucid we can both be talking about the flaws of The Brutalist. But how messy the criticism of Emilia Perez is. I think it's revealing. Whatever mistakes he made, Corbet had a clear vision. I think it makes sense. I think it's an A+ and I'll be reviewing it soon! ;)
This was excellent. I always love the cross-pollination effect I get from listening to artists other than writers talk about their art, processes, and the ways they process their emotions into their work. One of my favorite parts was the unexpected discussion of art therapy and the mention of The Body Keeps the Score, which I hadn't heard of before. I thought the 'commercial break' was great, and loved your idea to put in skits sometime I the future--wild to hear my own work recommended during the commercial--thank you!
coming back to this this morning i desperately needed some creative vision from the two most impactful people of our generation 🙏🏾 good and important listen!
“Just making a piece of art is traumatic…..” whew
Okay, yep . . . I know the scene.
One is an alcoholic; the other is a passed out heroine addict.
Yes, Felicity Jones is the key to this film. She is the key to the whole thing.
"We're obsessed with rich people."
