One thing about Andrew: that guy is going to keep things interesting 😁 and boy did you. Loved being in the room and watch you pull this off. I also loved how this ended up being its own metaphorical dance around exposure. Retreating from the exposure expected or asked — but strangely exposing yourself more in doing so (but on your own terms). A struggle of defiance, control and surrender. It felt apt for the piece too. 🩵
He's one of my heroes. (No, I'm not being sarcastic or hyprebolic. You're both amazing people and I'm happy to be in the same general sphere as the both of you.) This was fucking outstanding.
Congats on putting yourself out there and also sharing it with us. Approcate the sharing, especially around the vulnerability it takes to do live performance.
"I wanted infection. I wanted my body to perform the words." The distinction between reading AT people and actually moving the words into the room — that's the whole experiment. Starting to cry and making sure to look at the audience enough so they knew you weren't scared is one of the most honest descriptions of performing vulnerability I've read. Really remarkable piece. Honored to share the Mini-Zine with you.
